Hidden Lake and HighLine Trail

We decided to go to Logan Pass and take the hike to Hidden Lake.  We had to leave early to get a parking spot at Logan Pass.  The parking lot is full by 10:30 AM.  If you arrive after 10:30 AM you could wait hours for a spot.

On the way to Logan Pass we stopped at SunPoint (again) to take pictures because the light was good and the lake was like a mirror (and we have all day!).

When we arrived at Logan Pass we could only hike to the Hidden Lake overlook, the trail to the actual lake was closed due to bear activity.  The entire 3 mile hike to the overlook is a boardwalk.  Lots of steps but easy.   The overlook provided beautiful views and lots of mountain goats.

walking up to the overlook, beautiful meadows of wildflowers

more wildflowers!

Overlook of Hidden Lake

We saw mountain goats, marmots and lots of ground squirrels on the way!

Goofy cartoon face!
After returning to the car and dining on some fine poptarts (high-class here!),  we checked out the Highline Trail.  Wow!  We were not expecting the cliff walk part of the trail.  It did nothing for Steve's apprehension of heights (fear is such an ugly word)!   We did not have time to do the entire trail but may return next week.

This is the picture from the trailhead, the meadows have an abundance of wildflowers. So incredible to be able to walk in such a beautiful place!

Beginning of trail

This is the fear portion of our journey. Cliff drops to the left. Rail is covered with garden hose!

Going back, if you enlarge you can see people on the trail and road below
