Ephraim

Happy Birthday to Stevie Ray! We headed to the driving range at a local golf course and then headed back. Steve made a delicious eggs and bacon breakfast (noticing a theme..lol). After breakfast we took a nice long bike ride in Potawatomi State Park. The trail runs adjacent to Sturgeon Bay. It was in the 90's again today so we didn't do anything too strenuous. After our bike ride we cooled down before braving the heat to take the dogs for a walk.

For our fun-filled evening activities we decided to drive to Ephraim to experience a “Door County Fish Boil”. This is a tradition unique to the Door County. The fish boil consists of fresh whitefish cut into steaks, small baby red potatoes and sweet boiling onions. The ingredients are boiled in large stainless steel kettle over a wood fire. The master boiler will throw oil directly into the fire beneath the kettle resulting a tremendous burst of flames that force the water and fish oils to boil over the rim signaling the end of cooking and the beginning of the dining portion of the show. It was good but I have to admit the best part of the dining experience was the homemade cherry pie with ice cream. It was really really mouthwatering good.

Now thats a boil

After dinner we headed to the local Ephraim square and listened to the Mighty Mouth band (they play Chicago-style blues). We then drove the coastline of Door County to the furthest point north before sunset. Door County has so many neat little towns and shopping. Again, we are shocked at the small number of people for such an incredible place.
