Pictured Rocks

We had an action packed day yesterday.  We took Chapel Basin Day Hike to see Chapel Falls and Chapel Rock.

There was a 5 mile dirt road to get to the parking area.  I was wondering if I needed 4WD.  My little Acura has never been so abused!  The rattle of the tow package made it seem so much worse!

It was about a 6.5 mile hike.   I was impatient and thought we might be on wrong trail (seemed a little too long to get there..lol) but we were finally presented with the view and Chapel Rock.  It was worth a little aggravation.  The rock that supported the tree's root system tumbled approx 50 years ago but the tree lives on!

On our travels back to the parking area we kept smelling a musty odor.  I was thinking animal and hoping no bears (we weren't prepared for bear (no spray, bells, etc..lol).  It was an animal and thankfully was not a bear.

After a little break and the homestead, we headed out for a boat cruise of Pictured Rocks at 730PM.  It was a sunset cruise (sunsets around 930P).  It was absolutely beautiful and perfect weather.  No sweatshirt or dramamine required.
The colors on the rocks are so beautiful.  Some have blues as well.  Picture doesn't do it justice.
