Welcome, MN and Mitchell, SD

We arrived in Welcome, MN on Friday afternoon, population 679.  It puts the small in small town. Lots of farming!  The community was celebrating Welcome Days which included a fire company chicken dinner.  We attended at the legion hall.  It was good but a little awkward.  Everyone was really nice but knew we weren't from around these parts. I kept waiting for the Footloose theme song to start playing.  Unfortunately we didn't stay for festivities since I needed to clean and do normal type activities.  Its odd to have to allot time for normal every day things (toilet cleaning..ugh!) while on the road.

Welcome to MN!

We arrived in Mitchell, SD around 2PM today and kicked back with some cable television!  We could watch some of The Open and it was awesome. It was in the 100's and very hot today.  After some R&R, we headed to the Corn Palace.  It is an arena/facility decorated in crop art (aka grain, corn, etc).  The corn palace originated in 1892.  It was pretty cool.  After touring the palace and the city, we headed to Culver's for a burger.  We saw signs for butterburger and had to try the place.  The butter is for the roll.  I am now officially jeopardizing the budget by needing a larger pant size!   Its the vacation diet that is not ending!

Headed to the rodeo tomorrow!

Yeah, SD!
