Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping is a fantastic campground! We would rate this campground a 10.
It is family oriented, quiet and clean. No wi-fi but is supposed to be camping!
View of Mackinac Bridge from campground. This was approximately 50 yards from our campsite.
At sunset:
Monday morning I scheduled a vet appointment to get Lila's blood work done. Her proteins have improved slightly, so this is excellent news for us! We played a little golf in the afternoon and an evening of Wal-Mart grocery shopping, very exciting stuff!
Tuesday we took the 8AM Star Line Ferry to Mackinac Island. The 8AM ferry goes under Mackinac Bridge. Mackinac Island has no cars, except for 3 emergency vehicles. Everything is horse-drawn carriage, bicycles or by foot! The first thing I noticed was the silence. I loved it! It felt like Disney Island.
We took our bikes with us and toured the island by bike. Getting there early was definitely the way to go.
The Grand Hotel, a National Historic Landmark on the island, is celebrating their 125th Anniversary!
There are numerous activities and sights on the island, too many to list! We had a great day on the island and returned to tour Mackinaw City and get some Pasties! Pasties originated as a meal for miners of Cornwall, England, and later Michigan's Upper Peninsula. They are made by baking meat and vegetables in a crust. It was a hearty and delicious meal!
